I'm happy to report that the entryway has been reopened for canine (and human) traffic! The baseboards need to be reinstalled and the carpet needs to be tacked down, but the tile is good to go. Here are pictures of the finished product:
I'm no tile expert, but I give the end result two dewclaws up.
