I hope they haven't bitten off more than they can chew....

It occurred to me that I've been spending more time than usual in my crate this week. That, combined with the ruckus emanating from the entryway of the house, leads me to believe that something is afoot. Here's what I know. This is what the area by the front door looked like on Sunday:
I did a little sniffing around and this is what I encountered Monday night:
This is what the entryway looks like now:
I tried to get a better look, but I couldn't get too close to the area in question - there was a basketball in the way. I find that interesting because Michael and Beth know that I am terrified of spherical objects that bounce around. As far as I'm concerned, basketballs are just glorified balloons with weird little bumps.
I will continue to surveil the entryway from my secret stake-out post (located between the coffee table and the couch). I'll keep you posted on any developments.

I require constant supervision....

This post could also have been titled "Beth, what's taking so long over there by the computer? You promised you would take me for a walk." Yes, that's the floor mat from the back door. Yes, I relocated it to my dog bed. Yes, it was/is delicious. Those are Beth's snow boots in the foreground. They are also quite tasty.

Snow!

The forecast for north-central Indiana calls for 2-4 inches of snow tomorrow. And let me tell you, I'm excited. I like everything about snow. I like going for walks in the snow:
I like rooting around in the snow:
And, perhaps most of all, I like eating the snow:

An eclipse!

Did you see the eclipse last night? I noticed it during my...let's just call it outdoor time. I pointed it out to Michael and he took a picture.
And now, Exhibit B to support my "dogs can give hugs" argument:
And no, I haven't grown into my skin.

Happy Birthday...to me!

Today is my five month birthday. That means I'm almost three in people years. I didn't get any birthday presents, per se. Michael and Beth did, however, let me chase a balloon around the house for a while. It was exhausting.

Dogs can hug too

A certain someone, who shall remain nameless, questioned my ability to give hugs. May I present Exhibit A:

A busy day in Avery world

Today was a busy day. I went to the vet to get my rabies shot. I love going to the vet. Again, not so keen on the car ride, but the destination is definitely worth the journey. I weighed in at 34.2 pounds...that's up from 33 pounds two weeks ago. And now I'm officially done with my puppy vaccine series - yay!

After the vet it was back to the house. I chewed on Beth's John Deere hat for a while:Then I played with some of my toys:
Just kidding! That's not me. That's my best (albeit stuffed) pal, Rosco. We make quite the pair:
I also decided today that the mattress in my dog bed is a much better awning than it is a sleeping surface:
Regardless of mattress positioning, I have enjoyed my dog bed. Thanks, Oakley, for the recommendation!

Happy Valentine's Day!

A look back...

Maybe I should start from the beginning. Here I am with my brother and sisters when we looked like rats. I'm the one in the upper left.
I soon outgrew my rat stage. Here I am at 6 weeks:
And here I am ready for my trip to Indiana. I was 14 weeks old at that point. The car ride was l-o-n-g. And I did not like being in my crate. Michael and Beth (well, mostly Michael...since Beth was doing the driving) took pity on me and held me for the majority of the trip. The car was covered with my hair (oh yeah, we bulldogs tend to shed...just a little), but at least everyone arrived in Indiana with their eardrums intact.

Who says bulldogs aren't athletic?

I've started a new workout regimen. It consists of me running around the house and jumping on things. Things like ottomans:
And kitchen tables:
The kitchen table was a two-step process. First onto the chair. Then up to the table. I'm quite spry.

First bath

Ok, this was a couple of weeks ago. In fact, rumor has it I'm scheduled to take my second bath this weekend (the suggested bath interval for a bulldog is 4 weeks, you know). I'm not sure I would say it was a rousing success. I didn't mind the sudsing part. I wasn't much of a fan of the rinsing part, though. And afterwards I smelled like a sugar cookie.

My favorite chew toys

I enjoy nibbling on toes. And shoes. And, better yet, toes in shoes.
And here I am doing my part to support a certain grassroots John Deere boycott....

Greetings and salutations

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Avery. I am a 4.5 month old English Bulldog puppy. I'm originally from southeastern Kansas (Peres Bulldogs on Broadway, to be precise) but now reside in Indiana. This blog will detail my various shenanigans. So stay tuned....
